The Brooklyn Nets traded Spencer Dinwiddie to the Toronto Raptors for Dennis Schröder and Thaddeus Young on Thursday, but Dinwiddie is expected to hit the buyout market, per Shams Charania of Stadium and The Athletic:

And with that, there’s expected to be much interest in Dinwiddie, with the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, New Orleans Pelicans and Philadelphia 76ers “expected to emerge as suitors,” per Charania on Stadium’s ITA Trade Deadline Special (1:30:00 mark).

Dinwiddie has averaged 12.6 points and 6.0 assists in 30.7 minutes per game over 48 starts for the Nets this season.

It’s no surprise that Dinwiddie is highly coveted by at least four potentially playoff-bound teams. He’s a solid ball-handler and scorer who can provide quality minutes off the bench as one of the top guards for any of those teams, and he can also start in a pinch if needed.

The Lakers in particular seem to have heavy interest in Dinwiddie, per Anthony F. Irwin of Lakers Lounge:

Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times echoed a similar sentiment:

The Lakers didn’t make any trade deadline moves but could certainly use reinforcements. At 27-25 and ninth in the Western Conference, the Lakers are in danger of missing the playoffs altogether after making the conference finals the year before.

L.A. could use another ball-handling guard off the bench to back up D’Angelo Russell, and Dinwiddie is the best available player to fit that bill.

Generally speaking, Dinwiddie also leads a buyout market with some quality players who can certainly contribute as reserves for contending teams:

Ultimately, it would be a surprise to see Dinwiddie last very long before he lands with another team, with the Lakers potentially showing the most interest here.
