SCOTUS #SCOTUS
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) – Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold talked with us about this week’s Supreme Court battle to keep Former President Donald Trump off the Colorado ballot.
The case to keep the Former President Trump off the ballot in this years election has now reached the Supreme Court. The case was filed back in September by a total of six voters, some Republican and some unaffiliated. The oral arguments start this Thursday and Griswold says under the constitution, insurrectionist are banned from taking office.
Jena Griswold Colorado Secretary of State stated, “My perspective is section 3 of the 14th amendment is very clear, it is there to protect the nation from threats from within people who would swear to uphold the constitution and then engage in insurrection or rebellion and become a threat to the country by running for office again.”
Currently, Former President Donald Trump is on the ballot for the presidential primary, but that could change depending on the outcome of the majority conservative supreme court.
