FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) — The Florence Police Department (FPD) says one adult and two juveniles were arrested Saturday in connection with a chase that ended with a patrol car on fire.

According to the department, at around 3 p.m. on Feb. 3, officers saw a Kia Sportage that had been reported stolen in Nashville crossing the O’Neal Bridge in Florence. FPD said the vehicle turned down Veterans Drive and officers attempted to stop the Kia.

Authorities said the vehicle disobeyed orders and pursuits began. The department said the vehicle continued eastbound and made several turns on side streets going close to 100 mph at times.

FPD said ultimately the vehicle wrecked around Leland Drive and the three occupants ran on foot. The department said officers were able to locate Clardy and two juveniles and take them into custody.

Clardy is charged with receiving stolen property, possession of burglary tools, fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement officers and second-degree possession of marijuana. Clardy is being held on a $33,500 bond for the incident but is being held without bond for another arrest by the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said both juveniles are charged with fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement. Both were taken to the North Alabama Juvenile Detention Center.

During the foot pursuit, a Florence Police vehicle was left unattended and caught fire, though no foul play is expected.
