Taylor Swift fans are convinced her new album title hints she’s about to tell all about her breakup with Joe Alwyn.

Singer Swift, 34, dated actor Alwyn, 32, for six years before their shock split in early 2023.

During her acceptance speech at the Grammys on Sunday, Swift announced that she would be releasing her eleventh studio album The Tortured Poets Department on April 19.

After leaving the stage, she then uploaded a picture of the album cover along with a photo of lyrics that read: “And so I enter into evidence / My tarnished coat of arms / My muses, acquired like bruises / My talismans and charms / The tick, / tick, / tick, / of love bombs, / my veins of pitch black ink.” The image was signed by “The Chairman of the Tortured Poets Department”.

Her loyal fanbase, known as the Swifties, were quick to put two and two together after remembering a crucial detail relating to her ex and her friend Phoebe Bridgers’ ex Paul Mescal.

Back in 2022, Alwyn revealed that mutual friend Andrew Scott created a WhatsApp group with him and Mescal called The Tortured Man Club.

Speaking to Variety, they explained that Scott “started the group” with Mescal saying: “He’s just on it every day. He’s just on it by himself.”

Alwyn jokingly added: “Just messaging himself good mornings.”

Some of her fans took to social media to share their theories online.

“THIS IS THE BREAKUP ALBUM” declared one person on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“I hope for Joe’s sake that he still has that group chat. I feel like he’s gonna need it,” quipped another.

While a third predicted that Alwyn was “about to become the most hated man in America” following the record’s release.

Swift infamously draws on her own experiences of complicated exes and failed relationships in her music.

Her hit song Forever and Always was inspired by her brutal breakup with Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers, which reportedly happened over a phone call.

While heartbreak track Dear John was reportedly written about her brief relationship with John Mayer, which took place when she was 19 and he was 32. It includes the line: “Don’t you think I was too young to be messed with?”
