The Grammys paid tribute to the “goddess of rock ‘n’ roll” on Sunday with a high-energy performance of Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary.” And who better to bring this timeless tune to the stage than Fantasia Barrino?
Introduced by Oprah Winfrey, the American Idol winner (never forget!) appeared on stage in a sparkly gold dress with shoulder pads for days. And while she gave this iconic jam the build-up it deserved, it wasn’t long before she had everyone at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena on their feet.

A certified music legend, Tina Turner died in May 2023 at the age of 83. According to a statement from her family, Turner passed away at her home near Zurich, Switzerland, after suffering from a long illness.
Barrino’s tribute to Turner was just one of several buzzy performances from this year’s Grammys. Some of this year’s others performers include Billie Eilish, Miley Cyrus (whose debut of “Flowers” included a more subtle Turner homage), Olivia Rodrigo, SZA, Billy Joel, Burna Boy, 21 Savage, Brandy Norwood, Dua Lipa, Joni Mitchell, Brandi Carlile, Luke Combs, Tracy Chapman and U2.
