Cleveland Cavaliers center Tristan Thompson was hit with a 25-game PED suspension, according to reports.

“We are disappointed in the recent news surrounding Tristan Thompson,” the Cavaliers said. “His time away from game action will have an impact on our team.”

Players are typically subject to four random tests for PEDs during the season and two during the offseason, according to the collective bargaining agreement between the NBA and the National Basketball Players Association.

Damian Lillard and Donovan Mitchell were both tested after scoring 71 points in games in 2023.

Thompson was the fourth overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft and spent the first eight years of his career in Cleveland, where won a championship in 2016. He returned after stints with the Boston Celtics, Sacramento Kings, Indiana Pacers, Chicago Bulls, and Golden State Warriors.

Off the court, Thompson’s personal life has been the subject of tabloid fodder after his highly public relationship and break up with reality star Khloe Kardashian. He recently also appeared in several episodes of “The Kardashians,” discussing his relationship with Khloe.

The Cavs are currently in second in the Central Division and have won their last eight games straight. The next time that Thompson will be eligible to play will be in mid-March.
