Evangelist Franklin Graham on Monday thanked President Trump for what he brought to the nation during his time in the Oval Office.

In a Facebook post, Graham wrote that he is grateful for the years that Trump has served as president “as we come to the end of this election season.”

“People have asked if I am disappointed about the election. When I think about my answer, I have to say honestly, that I am grateful – grateful to God that for the last four years He gave us a president who protected our religious liberties; grateful for a president who defended the lives of the unborn, standing publicly against abortion and the bloody smear it has made on our nation; grateful for a president who nominated conservative judges to the Supreme Court and to our federal court,” Graham said.

He continued applauding Trump for building “the strongest economy in 70 years” as well as “the lowest unemployment rate in 50 years.”

Graham wrote that he has been pleased to see Trump support the military and defend the police, as well as stand against corruption in Washington. Trump has received backlash in the past for disparaging remarks about U.S. service members.

Graham continued by saying he thinks Trump will go down “as one of the great presidents.”

“So as we come to the end of this election season, I look back with a grateful heart and thank God for all of these things,” Graham wrote. “President Trump will go down in history as one of the great presidents of our nation, bringing peace and prosperity to millions here in the U.S. and around the world.”

Graham received criticism earlier this year and calls for his removal in a petition from the group Faithful America, which garnered over 11,000 signatures.

The criticism came after Graham prayed for Trump during the Republican National Convention in September, giving thanks to God for “the many blessings we have received these past four years.”

The group disagreed stating, “We would hardly consider family separation, the deadly federal COVID-19 response, rampant corruption and authoritarianism, or ongoing systemic racism to be ‘blessings.’ “
