Foote is taking an indefinite leave of absence from the Devils, the team announced Wednesday.
Foote will leave the club for an unknown amount of time while attending to a personal matter. If the defenseman is expected to be away long-term, he could be placed on non-roster injured reserve, which will give the Devils an extra spot on the 23-man roster.
