No. 6 Kentucky Trolled by CBB Fans After Blowout Loss to Unranked South Carolina

Kentucky probably didn’t see this one coming.
The No. 6 Wildcats were hammered by South Carolina on Tuesday night, 79-62, in the lowest scoring output of Kentucky’s season.
South Carolina’s Ta’Lon Cooper led all scorers with 20 points and added six rebounds and five assists, while Rob Dillingham paced the Wildcats with 16 points off the bench. Reed Sheppard and Zvonimir Ivišić had quiet nights for Kentucky, managing just three points apiece.
Maybe the Wildcats should have been ready for a tough evening, however. Road games are never easy, South Carolina is now 16-3 on the season and boasts a stout defense.
It was certainly a night to remember for the Gamecocks:
Likewise, it was a game to forget for a Kentucky team that has national title aspirations but was humbled both during the game and on social media following the contest:
There’s no doubt these Wildcats have talent, as evidenced in wins over Miami, North Carolina and a tight loss to Kansas this season. Three of the team’s four losses, however, have come against teams that were unranked at the time, though it’s probably fair to assume that South Carolina won’t be unranked for long.
Still, the Wildcats need a bit of consistency to match their talent and upside, especially on the defensive side.
It’s hard to win at any level if you can’t get stops, although the Wildcats struggled to do anything particularly well on Tuesday night.
They shot just 4-of-13 from beyond the arc, compared to South Carolina making 11-of-24. They managed a woeful seven assists compared to 20 for the Gamecocks. D.J. Wagner and Antonio Reeves combined to shoot 8-of-28 from the floor.
It was just one of those nights, and it dropped Kentucky to 14-4 on the season. Up next is another road matchup, albeit potentially a palette cleanser against Arkansas.
