Bradley #Bradley

Maestro stars Bradley Cooper and Carey Mulligan will soon reunite to appear together on The Graham Norton Show.

The duo will appear on the red sofa of the BBC One show on January 26, leading a star-studded roster which also includes Bryan Cranston, Bryce Dallas Howard, Daniel Kaluuya and Kevin Bridges.

The pair will talk about their movie, a biopic of composer Leonard Bernstein (played by Cooper), which details his illustrious career and relationship with wife Felicia Montealegre (played by Mulligan).

Despite garnering positive reviews, Mulligan’s casting as the Chilean-American actor received some criticism, but producer Kristie Macosko Krieger recently revealed that the British star had received backing from members of Bernstein’s family.

“She got the approval of the family and that for us, we were doing it right,” Krieger said while speaking to GamesRadar+. “It was Bradley’s idea to cast her and we agreed. I think she’s a national treasure.

“Whilst she’s always been great, this material allowed her to go deeper, to give a beautifully nuanced performance. She knew how to be the rock at the centre of the movie — in some ways she’s actually the maestro.”

Bernstein’s daughters Nina and Jamie also praised Mulligan’s portrayal, with Nina saying: “She’s incredible — especially as she didn’t have much material to study, just some YouTube clips of her TV work and our home movies.”

“I don’t know how she managed to capture our mum’s fragility, strength, and vulnerability,” she continued, with Jamie adding: “[Our mum] would recognise the brilliance of what Carey pulls off.”

In addition to Cooper and Mulligan, Maestro boasts a stacked cast. Also appearing in the movie are Matt Bomer, Maya Hawke, Sarah Silverman and Josh Hamilton.

The film, which was also written and directed by Cooper, secured four nominations at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards last week, but came away empty-handed.

Maestro is available to stream on Netflix.
