Two major pieces of Syracuse Football’s 2023 squad announced they’ll be returning for the 2024 season.
Oronde Gadsden II announced via Twitter that he will be returning for his senior season.
In a statement, he said in part “I came into this season with big goals, but unfortunately this season didn’t go as planned–I still have unfinished business.”
Gadsden got injured in the second game of the season and was out for the remainder of the season. He caught 7 passes for sixty-seven yards.
In 2022, Gadsden recorded 966 yards and six touchdowns.
Gadsden is the second key player to announce he’d be returning.
Prior to his announcement, Justin Barron, a safety and captain for the Orange, said he would be coming back too.
Barron made his announcement on Christmas Day via X, formerly known as Twitter.
“I had high hopes for this season and unfortunately it did not go as expected,” Barron said in a statement. “I got one more for y’all, I’m coming back.”
Despite playing with a broken hand all season, Barron finished the regular season with 83 tackles, good for second-highest on the team and 13th in the ACC overall.
Barron is another boost to the 2024 team, which just signed its highest-ranked recruiting class in modern history under new head coach Fran Brown.
