Ten Hag gives Man Utd team news update ahead of West Ham trip
Raphael Varane would accept a return to Real Madrid next month if they could negotiate his Manchester United exit, according to reports.
The Frenchman made the move from the Spanish giants to Old Trafford back in 2021 and has, up until recently, been a regular. His minutes have been limited this term and he’s open to heading back to Los Blancos and would be prepared to take a wage cut, claims AS.
Carlo Ancelotti would welcome back Varane should a deal be struck. The Italian is currently trying to deal without injured pair David Alaba and Eder Militao. It has been claimed that Ancelotti would have him back ‘very favourably’ although the move has not yet been discussed at the Bernabeu.
Varane reportedly feels ‘relegated’ by Ten Hag, who only recently has restored him to the first team. The Frenchman had been sat on the bench for weeks as he watched the likes of Harry Maguire play ahead of him. The United boss has denied any rift with the player.
“Rapha Varane? I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Ten Hag told reports last month. “It’s rumours. Very important player, but there’s internal competition and there should be at a top club, as we are.”
Bayern Munich are ready to rival Real for the player and are willing to pay between €10-20m (£8.7m-£13.3m) to secure his signature in the coming weeks. Thomas Tuchel is on the lookout for a new centre-half with several Premier League players on his radar.

Casemiro is another former Los Blancos star who has been linked with a move away as his influence declines. The midfielder was a huge hit in his debut season in Manchester but this term injury and a lack of form have seen him questioned, particularly because of his age.
Saudi Arabia has been touted as a destination for both Casemiro and Varane but it is understood that Ten Hag is keen to keep both players in and around Old Trafford. He believes they can both play an important role as United attempted to get their season on track following a slow start.
