Anyone using parcel delivery firms this Christmas has been warned to steer clear of pointless “insurance” that could more than triple the cost of sending your presents.

The consumer group Which? said that there is no need to pay delivery firms extra to safeguard against your package being lost or damaged in transit.

Although parcel firms such as Evri, Royal Mail and Yodel routinely sell package cover to ensure your parcel arrives safely, customers are covered under consumer protection rules anyway, the consumer group said.
