Winter Solstice brings shortest day, longest night of the year to the Inland Northwest

Happy Winter Solstice #HappyWinterSolstice

Happy Winter Solstice! Today we start off with areas of fog and a patchy drizzle. Otherwise, it will be mostly cloudy with above average temperatures as the daytime highs will reach the low to mid 40s.

Today is the Winter Solstice, which is when the sun travels the shortest path through the sky, resulting in the day of the year with the least sunlight. It is also known as the longest night.

Tomorrow, changes arrive and we will see a wintry mix through the lowlands with snow for the mountains. Be prepared for winter driving conditions over mountain passes.

If you are dreaming of a white Christmas, I’m saying there’s a chance!  A first look at Christmas eve and Christmas day suggest that we could see just a slight chance (10-20%) of snow on Christmas day north of I-90.
