One bettor unfortunately wagered $70,000 on the Chargers +3 against the Raiders

Whenever you place a bet, there are three outcomes: It can win, lose or push.

But at the start of certain games, you may get a feeling of regret about a wager you placed based on how a game begins. Thursday Night Football provided just that pit-in-stomach feeling for one bettor at Caesars Sportsbook in New York, who wagered $70,000 on the Los Angeles Chargers +3 against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Unfortunately for this bettor, the game started — and continued — in about the worst possible fashion to cash the bet. The Raiders first stopped the Chargers on a three-and-out, and proceeded to score a touchdown on their first drive. The next time Los Angeles got the ball for four plays, then fumbled — the Raiders recovered and scored another touchdown. The Chargers got the ball back, fumbled on the the first play … and Las Vegas drove for another touchdown.

The Raiders were up 21-0 late in the first quarter and never had lower than a 90 percent probability of winning (per ESPN Analytics) for the rest of the game. Las Vegas was up 42-0 at halftime and ended up winning 63-21.

At least the sweat was over quickly for one bettor, but it likely was a tough watch — for however long he chose to stay tuned in.
