Steam and GOG are down, thanks to Cyberpunk 2077 hype

Following the official launch of Cyberpunk 2077, both Steam and GOG, two of the largest storefronts for PC games, have gone down according to reports from DownDetector. CD PROJEKT RED’s Fabian Mario Döhla has commented on the situation on Twitter, stating that “the hype is real.”
Indeed, the hype is real — so real, in fact, that PC gamers may be unable to download and play the game for awhile. Right now, it looks like the websites for Steam and GOG are frequently crashing and players are having difficulty connecting to servers for downloads. We’ll make sure to update this article when things clear up!
