Kilian Bron Wins World’s ‘Hardest And Longest’ Mass Start Race In The Himalayas
Bron #Bron
There are a lot of crazy bike races out there. It seems that organizers are fighting to outdo each other to host the most creative races. One race in the tallest mountain range in the world might take the cake.
On November 29, 2023, over a hundred riders participated in the Himalayan Enigma a 9,000’ vertical mass start downhill race in Nepal.
Watch Kilian Bron’s POV of the race below.
The Himalayan Enigma might be the most aptly named race out there. It is truly one of a kind. Where else can riders race from a Temple at over 12,000 feet down to 2,800 feet? Hardly anywhere in the world can even offer that level of rideable vertical drop. See an interactive map of the course below.

Cruelly, the course started off with a climb. Walking across a parking lot at that elevation is tiring enough. Redlining to get into position for the singletrack is otherworldly. Kilian Bron managed to get into first before the downhill and never gave it up, crossing the line in first.
Kilian Bron is an absolute animal. How he was able to ride for 16 miles down 9,000 feet without stopping is beyond me. Not only is it an immense physical effort, but most of this course was down legitimate trails, meaning the arm pump alone could smite a lesser rider. 51 minutes of descending is truly no joke.

Thankfully, Killian Bron is well-practiced at events like these. Bron has been on the podium of Megavalanche multiple times.
