  • WHY RAIDERS COULD WIN: The Jets are a mess. They’re 0-11 and seemingly on their way to becoming the third team in NFL history to go 0-16. … The Raiders’ defense, which has surrendered 86 points the last two weeks, will take on the league’s most inept offense — the Jets have the 32nd rated unit. The Jets have scored a paltry 13.8 points per game, last in the league by more than five points. The last team scoring fewer points per game than the Jets was in 2012, when the Chiefs were producing an average of 13.2 points per game. … The Raiders’ offense may also get a break this week since it’s taking on a Jets defense that’s allowed the fourth most points of any team at 29.3 points per contest. New York’s troubles usually begin right away as they give up the second most points in the first quarter and the most points of any team in the first half — an average of 17.1 points.

WHY JETS COULD WIN: Because history tells us they certainly could. While last week’s embarrassing Raiders’ lopsided loss to an inferior Falcons is fresh on our minds, don’t forget the Raiders went into New York to face what appeared to be an overmatched Jets team around the same time last season. Sam Darnold and Co. then pinned a 34-3 loss on the Raiders last November. … Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, who was taken one spot ahead of the Raiders’ Clelin Ferrell, is one of the league’s top linemen. He’s coming off a career game against the Dolphins — he had seven tackles, 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble, three quarterback hits and two pass defenses. Williams has 41 tackles in 10 games as well as five sacks and three forced fumbles. He has at least a half-sack in three of the Jets’ last four games.

RAIDERS NEXT GAME: vs. Colts at Allegiant Stadium, on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2020 at 1:05 p.m. (PT).
