Lauren Betts and Charisma Osborne lift No. 3 UCLA over Princeton 77-74

LOS ANGELES — Lauren Betts had a career-high 22 points and 10 rebounds, and No. 3 UCLA pulled away in the fourth quarter to hold off Princeton 77-74 on Friday and avoid the upset bug among the top 10 teams in the AP poll.

Only No. 1 South Carolina and the Bruins (4-0) haven’t lost yet.

Charisma Osborne scored 13 of her 21 points in the fourth for UCLA. Kiki Rice added 13 points and Gabriela Jaquez had 11 points.

The Tigers (2-1) were led by Kaitlyn Chen with 24 points and Skye Belker with 20 points. Madison St. Rose added 15 points and freshman Mari Bickley had 10.

NO. 7 LSU 73, SE LOUISIANA 50

Sophomore Flau’jae Johnson scored 17 points and 11 rebounds and junior Annesah Morrow added 10 points and 11 rebounds as LSU raced past SE Louisiana in their first game of the season without All-America forward Angel Reese.

Kennedy Paul and Hailey Giaratano led SE Louisiana with 12 points each.

Even without Reese, LSU (4-1) had enough firepower to handle the Lady Lions (2-2) in Mulkey’s homecoming game in SE Louisiana’s sold-out 7,500-seat arena.

NO. 12 FLORIDA STATE 79, FLORIDA 75

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Ta’Niya Latson scored a career-high 35 points, including 17 in the fourth quarter, to rally Florida State over Florida.

The sophomore was 11-of-20 shooting and made all 12 of her free throws in posting her eighth career 30-point game. She made all five of her field-goal attempts and seven free throws in final quarter when the Seminoles (3-0) outscored the Gators 30-19. Makayla Timpson added 13 points and 12 rebounds. O’Mariah Gordon and Sara Bejedi scored 10 points each.

Ra Shaya Kyle and Leilani Correa scored 16 points each, Aliyah Matharu added 15 and Alberte Rimdal 13 for the Gators (3-1) , who had a 25-game home nonconference win streak snapped. Their previous home nonleague loss also came against the Seminoles, in 2019.

NO. 18 INDIANA 112, MURRAY STATE 79

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Mackenzie Holmes had 20 points and 10 rebounds for her 21st career double-double, Sara Scalia scored 22 points and Indiana rolled past Murray State.

Yarden Garzon and Chloe Moore-McNeil added 14 points each and Lexus Bargesser and Lilly Meister 12 apiece for the Hoosiers (2-1), who shot 54% and made 21 of 28 free throws.

Katelyn Young had 18 points and 10 rebounds, Purdue transfer Ava Learn added 15, Hannah McKay 13 and Zoe Stewart 10 for Murray State (1-2), which scored a school-record total in a 121-63 win over Cumberland in its last game.
