Drake’s 50-Carat, 4-Pound Diamond Chain Was the Star of His Latest Music Video

Drake may be the most blinged-out dog of all.

The rapper debuted an impressive diamond chain in the music video for his hit “First Person Shooter” featuring J. Cole, Hypebeast reported on Thursday. The dog-leash-inspired piece, designed by the jeweler Nadine Ghosn, features a whopping 50 carats of diamonds and weighs in at more than four pounds, she revealed in an Instagram post.

“Feeling grateful 🥹 @champagnepapi. Thank you for giving us a chance to make something cool and incredible,” Ghosn wrote in her caption. “Thank you for my incredible craftsmen for all the trial and error that went into this and all the devotion 💕.”

Drake and Ghosn previously worked together on another canine-themed item in celebration of the rapper’s latest album, Hypebeast noted. That chain was made of small dog bones, with 18-karat gold, 50 carats of white diamonds, and six carats of pink diamonds. Your everyday dog collars, these are not.

While Drake has enlisted Ghosn for these custom pieces related to his most recent release, he’s no stranger to rocking some outrageous jewelry. Most recently, Drake was revealed as the mystery bidder who paid $1 million for a custom gold ring that originally belonged to Tupac. And earlier this year, he sported two skateboard pendants covered in white, pink, and yellow diamonds. Those pieces of jewelry also had a notable lineage: They formerly belonged to Pharrell.

Clearly a lover of diamonds, Drake hasn’t shied away from decking himself out in the gems. Last year, he showed up onstage in a necklace with a bonkers 42 diamonds, which took the jeweler Alex Moss more than a year to create. The stones represented all the times the rapper had thought about proposing but didn’t, earning the piece the name “Previous Engagements”—and resulting in some light mocking on the internet.

Moss is also one of Drake’s favored jewelers: He designed Drizzy a 13-diamond “Godfather Ring” in 2022, along with an accompanying necklace and bracelet. “Creating elegance with this set was the goal, using the finest material at the highest level of craftsmanship,” Moss told Robb Report at the time.

We’re not sure that Champagne Papi’s bejeweled dog leash exudes the same amount of elegance, but it’s certainly as eye-catching as the rapper’s other assorted jewels.
