A Hilton Head Island man has been sentenced to more than 100 years in prison after being convicted of sexually abusing young girls who were his neighbors.

According to the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office, Timothy Lamar Herndon, 45, was found guilty Thursday on five counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor and 12 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

Officials say the female victims were 8 and 11 years old when Herndon was arrested in 2019.

“Timothy Herndon groomed these girls with toys, costumes and candy. They trusted him. They called him ‘Uncle Timmy,’ ” said 14th Circuit Solicitor Duffie Stone. “But he was not the fun Uncle Timmy these girls thought he was. He was a sick, depraved predator who deserves every single second of his prison time.”

Herndon received maximum sentences for each offense.

The criminal sexual assault charges and one of the sexual exploitation charges are to run consecutively. The other exploitation sentences are to run concurrently, resulting in a 110-year sentence.
