T his festive season, actor-couple Vasishta Simha and Hariprriya are on a spiritual high. Just back from a Mathura Krishna Janmabhoomi trip and a visit to Hasanamba temple, they are celebrating their first Diwali as a married couple. “As individuals, we are both enthusiastic about everything that is related to spirituality, especially the festivals,” says Hariprriya.‘COOKING, PUJA, LIGHTING DIYAS TOGETHER – IT’S THOSE MOMENTS THAT MAKE DIWALI TRULY SPECIAL’“We both take the lead, divide the work and ensure that everything is done according to our tradition, without compromising on anything.Be it decorating the house, cooking traditional dishes, doing pooja or lighting diyas together, it’s those moments that truly make Diwali special. Our interest in spirituality also adds to giving more emphasis to the festival,” says Hariprriya.The couple emphasises the significance of cherishing family bonds during the festive season. “No matter how busy we are, my mother always insisted we all have to be home for the festivals, because it is a beautiful reminder of the importance of family and togetherness,” shares Hariprriya. Vasishta, who has spent quite some time away from his family because of work, now wants to make up for it. “This is our first Diwali post our wedding, and it’s really special. Around festivities, we block our dates off well in advance to ensure that we are able to spend time with the family,” says Vasishta.
On Bali Padyami, (today) in the puja room, we build a small fort for Bali with mud and crush it in the end. It signifies that it’s time to crush our egos. We celebrate Bali Padyami by lighting diyas and praying for all the negative energy to go away and seek positive energy
