Awkward moment Sky Sports interviewer botches Sterling chat after bizarrely offering to get something out of his eye
Sterling #Sterling
BEMUSED viewers claim an interviewer offering to get something out of Raheem Sterling’s eye then FORGETTING what to ask him was the “weirdest thing” ever.
Fans even reckon Sky Sports’ attempt to quiz the Chelsea goal hero was more captivating than the 4-4 draw with Manchester City.

Sterling and stoppage-time penalty scorer Cole Palmer faced the camera after their vital roles against old club City at Stamford Bridge.
But the questioning stalled when the interviewer appeared to spot grass in the striker’s eye.
The reporter asked if he could help Sterling remove it – but as he put his hand forward the smiling England star pushed it away and wiped his eye with his own shirt.
The distracted TV man then admitted he could not remember his question.
One fan posted: “You’ll get about 17,000 mentions of this but you have to talk about Patrick Davison attempting to get something out of Raheem Sterling’s eye live on TV. There’s breaking the fourth wall and then there’s that.”
Another wrote: “That Sky interview with Sterling and Palmer was so cringey! When he put his hand out to get whatever it was out of Sterling’s eye, ewww.”
Many viewers couldn’t believe what they were seeing – or not seeing, thanks to the halt in proceedings.
This was one verdict: “I think the weirdest thing was the guy trying to finger Sterling’s eyeball, what a freak!”
And one fan wondered: “What planet is that interviewer on to think it’s okay to pause and try and take a piece of grass out of Sterling’s eye mid interview.”
It was an eyebrow-raising finale to one of the games of the season so far – as City went back on top of the Premier League by a point from Liverpool.
Erling Haaland’s controversial penalty opener was overturned by a Thiago Silva header and Sterling rounding off a sweeping move.
But Manuel Akanji nodded City level and Haaland scrambled the champions in front.
Nicolas Jackson then made it 3-3, only for Rodri to restore the visitors’ lead late on with a deflected 20-yarder.
But Palmer, a £40million midfield recruit from the Etihad over the summer, calmly levelled from the spot five minutes into added time.
A fantastic advert for the Prem – and according to one fan, “especially the ending when the interviewer tried to remove something from Sterling’s eye lol”.
