The Block’s Steph and Gian reveal how they’ll spend their record-breaking $1.7 million prize money after winning the series

Steph and Gian walked away from The Block instant millionaires this weekend. 

And the delighted couple have revealed what they will do with their $1.75 million prize money. 

‘It’s going to clear our debts in Sydney, it’s going to really set us up for the next stage,’ Gian told 9Entertainment. 

‘There’s big things in the pipeline,’ he added, with Steph agreeing, ‘Big things’. 

Gian went on: ‘It’s life changing money, we wouldn’t have expected it.

‘We’re just glad that Adrian Portelli saw the value in the house that we saw as well. We are so grateful, he’s changed our lives’.

On Sunday’s nail-biting finale, Steph and Gian were the runaway winners with their house selling for an incredible $5million. 

They walked away with $1.65 million profit plus prize money of $100,000, bringing their total earnings to a record breaking $1.75 million. 

Steph and Gian’s House 4 was first to auction, and it was a tense time for the pair, who called their $3.35 million reserve ‘hell’ and feared they would not make money on the sale.

The bidding quickly reached $4million thanks to serial bidder Danny Wallace, but the action was halted after a woman fainted during the auction and was taken to hospital. 

After the pause, the bidding stalled at $4million, before jumping a million dollars straight up to $5million – and the hammer fell, with House 4 sold. 

The $5million sale gave the pair $1.65 million profit, with Steph and Gian embracing and bursting into tears as they called the money, ‘life changing’. 

The house was sold to Adrian Portelli, known as ‘Mr Lambo’, who said he wanted to prove he was a real bidder after controversy last season. 

Adrian spent $1.58 million on Omar and Oz’s house last year, but smashed his record this season.

‘It’s an incredible feeling. We are so overwhelmed right now and can’t believe it’ Steph and Gian said. 

‘It was such a surreal day, and to end on such a high like this after all the hard work is amazing. 

‘We are so grateful that Adrian Portelli saw something in our house which we love so much. This will change our lives.’

They added: ‘We have no idea what we are going to do with the money yet. It’s just unbelievable.’
