Minutes later, he flew into a tackle on Emil Krafth, but wasn’t punished for the challenge.
talkSPORT’s co-commentator for the game and former England striker Dean Ashton said: “[Erik ten Hag] has an issue already with Hannibal. That is very, very questionable.
“I think he went in nastily and he’s got away with it.”
Hannibal, 20, was on loan at Championship Birmingham City last term.
This season he’s been involved in the Man United’s first team, scoring his first Premier League goal in the 3-1 loss to Brighton.
But Newcastle’s disappointment with the Hannibal decision soon turned to delight.
Just before the half an hour mark, the away side took the lead through Miguel Almiron’s finish following a stunning solo run by assist provider Tino Livramento.
Lewis Hall then doubled their advantage, scoring his first goal for his boyhood club as he hit an excellent strike from the edge of the box.

Newcastle fans sung ‘you’re getting sacked in the morning’ at Ten Hag as they celebrated having a two goal cushion heading into the final 45 minutes standing between them and a quarter-final spot.
