UPDATE 2:24 p.m.: Jets third-string center Wes Schweitzer exited with a calf injury later in the second quarter. He has been ruled out.

The Jets put in Xavier Newman, who started at right guard, at center to replace Schweitzer. The Jets signed Newman to their practice squad three weeks ago and elevated him on Saturday.

Billy Turner replaces Newman at right guard.

Before Sunday, Newman had played 16 snaps in four games since entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent with Tennessee last year.

Now the Jets starting (Connor McGovern) backup (Joe Tippmann), and third-string centers are all hurt.

Jets center Connor McGovern exited in the second quarter of Sunday’s matchup against the Giants with an apparent left knee injury. He has been ruled out.

McGovern was walked off the field and entered the medical tent before the Jets carted him to the locker room. He is doubtful to return.

Wes Schweitzer enters at center and the offensive line is as follows: LT Mekhi Becton, LG Laken Tomlinson, C Wes Schweitzer, RG Xavier Newman, RT Max Mitchell.

The only player who started the season at his original position was Tomlinson. When starting starting left tackle Duane Brown was hurt in Week 3, Becton moved from right tackle to left tackle. Starting right guard Alijah Vera-Tucker moved from right guard to right tackle and Jets’ backup center, Joe Tippmann, moved to right guard.

Tippmann suffered a quad injury in Week 6 against the Eagles and is still out.

Schweitzer had replaced Tippmann at right guard and is now at center after McGovern’s injury.

The Jets signed Newman to the practice squad three weeks ago and elevated him yesterday.

Vera-Tucker was ruled out for the season after tearing his Achilles Week 5. He was replaced by Max Mitchell at RT.
