Ilia Gruev ‘told to go and speak to Farke’ after shattering Leeds reveal – pundit

Ilia Gruev does not want to stay at Leeds United given his lack of game time.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie urged Gruev to have a conversation with manager Daniel Farke about his future at the club.

The 23-year-old joined the Whites from German side Werder Bremen in August and since then has played just three minutes of first team football.

Farke currently has several options in midfield, all of whom have been putting in strong performances every week, the likes of youngster Archie Gray as well as summer arrivals Glen Kamara and Ethan Ampadu.

Leeds have an intense fixture schedule coming up after the current international break and Gruev will be hoping some minutes away with Bulgaria will move him into the frame of Farke’s thinking if he has to rotate his squad.

McAvennie insisted Gruev can’t wait around too long for game time to come.

“The first thing you do is you go and speak to the manager and ask what you have to do to get in the team,” he told Football Insider.

“The manager will tell you if you have to get fitter or whatever else. If he tells you you are not going to be part of the team then at least you know.

“Going somewhere and getting three minutes of football and to want to stay there is not for me, I could not do it.“

In other news, Leeds United have agreed £1.7m deal – and it’s all because of Andrea Radrizzani.
