Speaking to OK! Sandro detailed how Channel 4 removed moments on the show where he ‘messed around’.
He competed alongside 11 other bakers for a chance to be crowned winner and became runner-up on The Great British Bake Off in 2022 against Syabira Yusoff and Abdul Rehman Sharif.
He explained: “During one of the time call-outs, I had Noel on my shoulders, and I said an inappropriate joke, which was also an innuendo.
“I guess that’s why they didn’t keep it in the show.”
The fitness fanatic also revealed that many other funny scenes and situations didn’t make the final cut.
He continued: “I messed around so many times and threw dough between myself and the cameraman.”
Sandro also reminisced about the constraints and pressure the contestants faced daily.
He admitted that it was actually much more intense in real life, saying: “It is more stressful than how it looks on screen, especially the time crunch because when they edit it and say there’s one minute left.
“To be honest, that one minute is the most stressful time ever.”
He also explained that Bake Off contestants must endure long filming days, especially when the show started.
The East London baker expressed that at the beginning, they’d be picked up and taken to the tent and often be there from 7am to 7pm.
Sandro said: “The filming days were really long because we had to do the baking and the after bits too in between, 5 minutes four or five times a day, with 12 contestants, which was a lot.”
“We have a group chat, and we see each other at events and stuff. I was mostly close with Rebs and Maxy, they were my two friends from the show, but I’m in touch with everyone.”
When asked if all the participants got on well and if there were any arguments, he joked: “There’s no drama, it’s the Bake Off, we don’t do drama.”
He also encouraged anyone who’s thought of going to bake off to apply, stating: “The show is full of fun, anyone who wants to apply, it’s the best thing ever. The whole thing is so much fun.”
Sandro revealed that he had great fun during his time in the tent and that all of the participants were still in contact with each other after the show.
The Channel 4 star has been one of the most-talked-about contestants ever thanks to his incredibly handsome looks and has even been labelled by some as the best-looking baker to grace the tent.
The Great British Bake Off airs on Channel 4, with previous series available to stream.
