Australians will ‘dust their hands’ of the Voice to Parliament

Nationals MP Keith Pitt says he doesn’t know if the failure of the Voice referendum will have a “direct impact on Labor’s primary”.

Mr Pitt’s comments come after the failure of the Voice to Parliament with the referendum results showing a 60-40 split in favour of the No case.

The Nationals MP says he believes the Australian people will “sort of dust the hands” of the Voice.

He said Australians will say, “we’ve dealt with that issue and let’s get back to what really matters and that’s the cost of living”.

“We just can’t afford to pay our bills,” Mr Pitt said.

“I think if they’re going to come unstuck at the federal level – Labor will come unstuck on that – because they just keep driving prices up.”
