Behind these high scores is the home’s dedicated activity team, which regularly organises a range of meaningful activities for residents, including visits to the local football stadiums or shopping trips.

Encouraging residents to lead fulfilling lives, members of the lifestyle team also help to grant resident wishes, with one wish seeing residents go on a fishing trip and then get to cook what they caught.

The team also empowers residents to be independent, giving them opportunities to get involved with daily tasks at the home, such as cooking.

One relative commented: “My mum is like a changed person since coming to Cathkin House. She can now do things for herself again and is so much better than she was at home”.

The report also highlighted the holistic approach to care promoted at the home and the “meaningful relationships” team members have formed with residents, spending time getting to know them and always treating residents with “compassion, kindness and respect”.
