Eagles WR redeemed himself after he ‘got in trouble’ days ago

Even a talented wide receiver like A.J. Brown can be humbled sometimes.

Because, according to the Philadelphia Eagles’ star wideout, he was called out in practice for dropping balls that he attempted to grab one-handed. And then he made a beautiful 38-yard catch — one-handed — for one of his six receptions in the 23-14 win against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday at SoFi Stadium.

“This past Friday, I got in trouble because there were too many balls on the ground. I dropped like three balls trying to catch them one-handed,” Brown told reporters Sunday.

Brown said the left-handed catch surprised him. He caught it in the middle of the field with seconds left in the second half, helping to ultimately set up the Eagles for a 1-yard Jalen Hurts score and a 17-14 advantage.

“I didn’t even know I had the ball in my hand,” said Brown, who acknowledged he loves to practice the catch in walkthroughs but doesn’t try to actively do it in a game.

Coach Nick Sirianni and his assistants will probably let Brown off the hook for practice mishaps after performances like Sunday’s: 127 yards receiving, his third straight with more than 100 yards.
