There’s a sinking feeling of deja vu around Ibrox. Another year, another change of manager as Beale is shown the door less than a year on from Gio van Bronckhorst’s sacking.

He was the man tasked with patching up and putting back together a team that verged on falling to pieces and of the 11 players that started Van Bronckhorst’s final game, only James Tavernier and John Lundstram were named in the team that lost to Aberdeen and ultimately cost Beale his job.

There are mitigating circumstances there, of course; Connor Goldson and Ben Davies were both injured when the death knell sounded for Van Bronckhorst while Ryan Jack, who started at Ibrox on Saturday, came off the bench against St Mirren in that 1-1 draw in Paisley.

Still the lack of continuity shows how much things have changed over the last 10 months or so…and not enough of it is for the better as far as the fans are concerned.

Gio’s last Rangers team: McGregor; Tavernier, King, Sands, Barisic; Kamara, Lundstram; Kent, Tillman, Wright; Morelos

Beale’s last Rangers team: Butland; Tavernier, Goldson, Davies, Yilmaz; Cifuentes, Lundstram, Jack; Lammers, Dessers, Sima
