Ed Sheeran, Wilco and Green Day lead this week’s new music releases
Green Day #GreenDay
September comes to an end with something new from a superstar (Ed Sheeran), notable releases by Wilco, Heart’s Ann Wilson, Code Orange and the Gregorian monks, the return of Taproot and a boxed set celebration of Green Day’s “Dookie” (all subject to change)…
Album of the Week: Ed Sheeran will be singing out loud again as the British troubadour releases “Autumn Variations” (Gingerbread Man), his second album of the year and his first to not have a mathematic symbol as its title. Coming five months after the chart-topping “-,” “Autumn Variations” features 14 new songs produced by The Nationals’ Aaron Dessner, who he also worked with on “-.” The new set, Sheeran says, was conceptually inspired by Sir Edgar William Elgar’s late 19th century “Enigma Variations” and its 14 compositions, each about one of his friends.
