Jamie Raskin at Joe Biden Impeachment Inquiry
Rep Jamie Raskin hit back at the James Comer-led GOP committee at President Joe Biden impeachment inquiry on Thursday. The Maryland politician also brought in former President Donald Trump in his speech, blaming the Republican for causing a government shutdown.
After Raskin’s opening statement, he had Comer got into an argument. Amid other issues, the latter pointed out that the Democrat Rep had breached the time limit.
Oversight Committee Ranking Member Raskin slammed the House Republicans for undertaking a “Trump-ordered impeachment process”. He further added that the efforts should be put on averting a government shutdown. His staff further produced four boxes containing 12000 pages of bank records subpoenaed by the House panel, noting that the documents included “not a single page” with a “dime going to President Joe Biden.”
“It’s hard to grasp the complete derangement of this moment,” Raskin said in a statement. “Three days before they’re set to shut down the United States government, Republicans launch a baseless impeachment drive against President Biden. No one can figure out the logic of either course of action.”
“The committee has received 12,000 pages of bank records, here they are right in front of us, and not a single page shows a dime going to President Joe Biden… We’ve received 2,000 pages of SARS reports, and we have found no evidence of wrongdoing by President Joe Biden.”
“I’m glad you brought the boxes of bank statements,” Comer said. “If we had a box with all the foreign money the Bidens took, it would reach to the ceiling.”
