Dan Andrews’ pension an example of the ‘haves and have-nots’ divided in the public arena

Former Victorian premier Daniel Andrews’ major pension is another example of the “haves and have-nots” divided in the public arena, according to 2GB host Michael McLaren.

The former premier is said to be eligible for a pension of up to $300,000 a year and will receive it now despite being 51 years old and the eligible age for pension in Victoria being 65 and a half years.

“Daniel Andrews is doing nothing extraordinary or individualistic here, these are the rules,” Mr McLaren told Sky News host Peta Credlin.

“But the average Victorian is right I think to question the state finances in the way they are and having been left in that way after his tenure whether such a large early pension is justified.

“At the end of the day I suppose Mr Andrews could say ‘listen, I’m a Labor man from the left, I’m one of the workers … I’m not going to take it’, but I don’t think he will.”
