Scout’s view: Notre Dame 2025 running back commit Daniel Anderson

Notre Dame football didn’t get a win on the field this past weekend, but they won plenty off it.

Not only did they put on a great environment in front of a rowdy crowd and television audience, the coaching staff impressed recruits on campus which led to three verbal commitments in the 2025 class.

One of them was Arkansas running back Daniel Anderson, who was in the house for the game Saturday night, committing to the Irish prior to the start. The junior running back doesn’t have a national ranking at the moment, it’s still very early in the class.

What I can tell you about is his skill set, which is impressive after watching his sophomore tape, not much junior film has been shared. Find out below what to expect from Anderson when he arrives in South Bend.

Speed

Scout’s view

Although it does seem like it when watching his highlights, Anderson moves extremely quickly through the line. He hits creases fast, often getting past the first wave of defense and getting into the secondary. Anderson isn’t a burner, but has plenty of speed to be a playmaker.

Running styleScout’s view

You want your running back to be able be able to run between the tackles or outside of them and Anderson can do that. He’s not afraid of contact, so getting tough yards isn’t an issue. An offensive game plan will not have to be specified by his skill set as he can do it all.

VisionScout’s view

This aspect of his game ties in with his ability to run any play, Anderson has great vision. He knows which hole to hit, inside or out. Playing up is the fact that Anderson also has great cutback vision, he’s patient for his holes to develop and hits them hard.

StrengthScout’s view

Already possessing size that plays at the college level, at 5-foot, 11-inches and 195-pounds, Anderson isn’t easy to bring down. Arm tackling doesn’t work, you have to gang tackle him. There is no doubt that he will get stronger when he arrives on campus.

Scout’s view

It’s very difficult to project a prospect that has not updated his film much so far in his junior season. What I can tell you is that the Irish coaching staff would not have taken his commitment if they didn’t believe in Anderson’s talent. The plan is to revisit all of the 2025 commits once their tape has been updated to give a better idea of of what kind of player they are.
