Nottingham Forest’s World Cup winner substituted after being tormented by Burnley teenager Luca Koleosho

Nottingham Forests’s World Cup winner, Gonzalo Montiel was substituted early in the second half as he struggled to keep a lid on Burnley’s new star.

Montiel, who has scored winning penalties in both the World Cup and Europa League finals, simply had no answers for the brilliant Luca Koleosho on Monday night.

Koleosho played a key role in Burnley’s opener, which was scored by Zeki Amdouni, having peeled away from Montiel and skipped past Joe Worrall before pulling the ball back, which fell into the scorer’s path.

Koleosho, who turned 19 on September 15, was electric at the City Ground, getting all sorts of joy against the Argentina international.

Montiel received a yellow card in the first half for a late tackle and was taken off in the 52nd minute with Koleosho once again getting past him after the break.

And the play of the USA-born teenager, who joined the Clarets for just £2.6million from Espanyol this summer, impressed talkSPORT’s Danny Murphy and Adrian Durham.

“He has tormented Montiel in the first half,” Durham said on commentary for talkSPORT at half time.

“He could be the bargain of the century given what we’ve seen in this first half.”

“He’s grown into the game, as Burnley have,” Murphy said.

“But what he’s got is wonderful pace, a willingness to run without the ball into space which you always need but not every winger wants to do that. When you’ve got those two attributes, you’re a problem.

“He’s happy to go on his left and go inside, he’s a real problem for the full-back.

“He looks completely free, he looks like he’s really enjoying himself.”

Forest hit back in the second-half as Callum Hudson-Odoi brilliantly curled the ball in to level the match.

Burnley thought they’d won it near the end through Lyle Foster but the goal was disallowed following a VAR review as assist provider Sander Berge was adjudged to have handled the ball earlier in the move.

Foster was then sent off in stoppage-time for an elbow on Forest man Adam Yates.
