Andrew Pierce told his GB News co-host Beverley Turner she was “an idiot” for tweeting about Russell Brand during a fiery clash on Monday.
On Saturday, Channel 4 aired an hour-and-a-half special looking into Russell Brand’s treatment of women as serious allegations against the comedian emerged, which he strongly denies.
The comedian has been the hot topic of discussion since the claims surfaced, however, Andrew and Bev seemed to have conflicting opinions on the reports.
Bev began: “We’ve got a man who has turned his life around. He was a proper addict, right?
“He was a full-on crack addict, heroin addict, sex addict, and for the last 10 years…seven years…clean.
“He’s married, he lives a virtuous life. He’s married to a wonderful woman, they have two young children and another one on the way. He is an example of how you can recover.”
Andrew went on to bring up a tweet sent by his co-star and Russell’s sister-in-law Kirsty Gallagher at the weekend in support of Russell, which led the duo to argue.
Referring to Kirsty deleting her tweet, Andrew said: “She tweeted in support of him and then she saw the programme, that Dispatches programme…”
“No, that is not true,” Bev shouted over her co-star. “Andrew, that is not true, we don’t know that.
“Because of people like you saying that you cannot defend this man…”
“She told you that did she?” Andrew fired back. “Did Kirsty Gallagher tell you that?”
As Bev tried to shout over Andrew, he continued: “She took it down after the Dispatches show.”
“She is frightened of speaking out against him,” Bev went on before adding: “And only idiots like me spoke out against him to be attacked. I stand my by principles.”
“True words by you there, Bev, because you are behaving like an idiot,” Andrew shouted back.
Before the documentary aired on Saturday evening, Russell took to social media to strongly deny the allegations that were going to be made against him.
During the video, Russell denied all the claims made against him after explaining he had received “two extremely disturbing letters from a media TV company and a newspaper”.
He said: “Amidst this litany of astonishing, rather baroque attacks are some very serious allegations that I absolutely refute.
“These allegations pertain to the time when I was working in the mainstream, when I was in the newspapers all the time when I was in the movies, and as I’ve written about extensively in my books, I was very very promiscuous.”
Russell continued: “Now during that time of promiscuity, the relationships I had were absolutely, always consensual.
“I was always transparent about that then, almost too transparent, and I’m being transparent about it now as well, and to see that transparency metastasized into something criminal, that I absolutely deny, makes me question, is there another agenda at play?
“Particularly when we’ve seen coordinated media attacks before, like with Joe Rogan, when he dared to take a medicine that the mainstream media didn’t approve of, and we saw a spate of headlines from media outlets across the world, using the same language.”
The comedian concluded: “Now, I don’t want to get into this any further because of the serious nature of the allegations, but I feel like I’m being attacked, and plainly they are working very closely together. We are obviously going to look into this matter, because it’s very very serious. In the meantime I want you to stay close, stay awake, but more important than any of that, if you can, please stay free.”
