Jonathan Ross and Richard Ayoade have found themselves being trolled on social media after they apparently reviewed a book by The IT Crowd creator Graham Linehan.

Writer Linehan – who also created Father Ted – has sparked controversy for his stance on trans rights.

He has now penned a book called Tough Crowd: How I Made And Lost A Career In Comedy, and it seems it features endorsements from chat show star Ross and comedian and actor Ayoade, who was in The IT Crowd.

Images of the book show that it has praise from Ross and Ayoade at the top of the front cover.

TV star Ross is quoted as saying: “A must-read book – funny and utterly compelling.”

And the comment from Ayoade said: “His brilliance in prose is equal to his brilliance as a scriptwriter.”

The news hasn’t gone down that well with everyone, with some people posting messages on social media suggesting the pair should be cancelled.

One wrote on Twitter: “Jesus Christ Ayoade and Ross in one sweep? Get in the bin both ffs.”

“Utterly disappointed in Richard Ayoade,” said another.

“Jonathan Ross can get in the bin too.”

However, other people thought it was a bit over the top.

One tweeted: “When you see people are trying to cancel Richard Ayoade over reviewing a book you think to yourself – OK, that’s a bit too far.”
