The All Blacks are renowned as one of the best teams in the world and are one of the favourites to win the World Cup while their famous Haka is performed before every match.

But the French fans inside the stadium denounced the traditional war dance by booing, though the dissenters were quickly shut up.

But just 93 seconds after kick-off, New Zealand took the lead through Mark Telea as the French defence were left scrambling.

Rieko Ioane made the initial break before the ball made it way to Beauden Barrett, who for the millionth time in his career, kicked the ball crossfield with laser-like accuracy.

To greedily gobble it up was Telea while the winger had the simple task of putting the ball down to give the All Blacks an early lead.

However, Richie Mo’unga’s could end up proving crucial as France kicked their way back into the lead after a shell-shocked start.

Thomas Ramos scored two penalties to take it to 6-5 before Mo’unga was given the chance to redeem himself, not making a mistake this time to make it 6-8.

Ramos again helped France into the lead to underline his importance in an side brimming of exciting talent.

A win for either side could be crucial to the rest of the tournament for both countries in Group A.

While Uruguay, Italy and Namibia might pose little threat, finishing second could end up leading the runners-up down a treacherous path to the final.

And as hosts and one of the favourites, France have high hopes of going on to win their first-ever World Cup.
