‘Despacito’ Singer Luis Fonsi’s Rolex Daytona Was Discontinued—But We Found One for Sale

Rolex #Rolex

Luis Fonsi just proved he has more than Hot 100 hits to his name.

The Puerto Rican singer behind “Despacito,” the 2017 hit that’s now a Diamond-status track, attended a press conference on Thursday in Madrid, Spain. While his relatively simple outfit included a minimalist black-and-white polo and black trousers, the eye-catching Rolex on his wrist added a distinguished twist to the look.

Now discontinued, the 40 mm rose gold Daytona was released in 2011. Its sophisticated display, which uses Arabic numeral hour markers instead of the batons the Crown uses in current models, is accented by a small-second dial at 6 o’clock, as well as hour and minute counters at 9 o’clock and 3 o’clock, respectively. All three displays and the watch hands are crafted from a more luminous rose gold that pops against the dial’s dark hue. The chronograph tachymeter scale in black also measures speeds up to 400 units, in kilometers and miles.

Fonsi’s stylish timepiece is powered by Rolex’s 4130 caliber. The automatic movement houses fewer components than standard chronographs for enhanced time-telling precision. But it does include a column wheel and a Parachom hairspring that provides greater resistance to shocks and changes in temperature. More importantly, the movement offers a 72-hour power reserve.

The sophisticated watch may appear to be all business, but its black rubber strap helps dial back any stiffness and underlines its sporty heritage. To keep things elegant, it has a black rubber Oysterflex strap that’s secured by a matching Everrose gold folding clasp.

You can buy a pre-owned version of the timepiece now at Watchfinder & Co. The 2012 model has been serviced and has had a thorough inspection of water resistance, accuracy, and functionality. A 24-month warranty should give you a peace of mind. The price, naturally, is available upon request.
