Chris Eubank Jr beat Liam Smith with a 10th-round stoppage in their highly anticipated rematch on Saturday evening.
Smith was full of confidence heading into their second fight after his fourth-round victory back in January but Eubank Jr, who had never been knocked down in his professional career before that defeat, delivered a significantly improved performance at the AO Arena in Manchester, putting the 35-year-old Liverpudlian on the canvas twice.
After winning the opening three rounds, Eubank Jr knocked Smith to his knees in the fourth with a solid uppercut.
Smith managed to get to his feet and bought himself time to recover by spitting out his gumshield, much to the annoyance of Eubank Jr and his corner.
But the 35-year-old Liverpudlian was forced to hang on once again in the fifth as he covered up on the ropes to survive a flurry of shots.

Eubank Jr, who ditched Roy Jones Jr as his trainer in the build up to the fight and brought in Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre, who has worked extensively with undisputed welterweight champion Terence Crawford, continued his dominance in the second half of the contest and had Smith down once again in the 10th.
Smith only just beat the count on that occasion but Eubank Jr followed up quickly with another onslaught, which forced the referee to step in and end the fight.

Speaking after his victory, Eubank made it clear who he wants to fight next.
‘I want to fight GGG [Gennady Golovkin],’ he said.
‘I don’t know where he is right now, but wherever you are Gennady, you’ve been holding onto them belts for too long. I want to take one, so let’s get that on if we can.’
