Cameron Archer scored on his Premier League debut for Sheffield United but Arnaut Danjuma’s second-half strike rescued Everton a 2-2 draw at Bramall Lane.

Archer made his debut in the Carabao Cup in midweek but got a first league start as a host of United’s best players returned.

Everton gave a first start to striker Beto as both sides chased their first points of the season.

The Toffees scored their first Premier League goal of the season in the 14th minute as Abdoulaye Doucoure poked home at the second attempt from a corner.

Sheffield United levelled in the 33rd minute as Cameron Archer broke his duck. Oli McBurnie teed up the new arrival and he fizzed an effort into the corner from 12 yards.

United went ahead in first-half injury time. Archer bent a 20-yard shot that crashed into the post and rebounded off Jordan Pickford’s back and into the net for an own goal.

That proved the last action of the first half as United went in 2-1 ahead.

Everton levelled after a strong start to the second half as Arnaut Danjuma fired in from close range after Nathan Patterson’s incisive cross.

Pickford pulled off a spectacular double save in the 99th minute to ensure Everton did not leave Sheffield empty handed.
