Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was carted off from Sunday’s game against the Washington Football Team with a knee injury that he later indicated he believes will rule him out for the remainder of the season.
On a third-and-2 play in the third quarter, Burrow was hit low by defensive lineman Jonathan Allen and high by Montez Sweat after throwing an incompletion intended for wide receiver Tyler Boyd. Burrow clutched his left knee before being leaving on a cart.
Players from both teams surrounded Burrow to show support as the quarterback was being loaded onto the cart and taken away.

Cincinnati ruled Burrow out for the remainder of the game shortly after the injury.
Burrow did not reveal the exact nature of his injury but said “see ya next year” in a tweet later on Sunday.
After his team’s 20-9 loss, Bengals coach Zac Taylor did not reveal a recovery timeline for Burrow.
“The players have responded to him, the coaches have responded to him, the city has responded to him and all that is equally as important,” Taylor said. “He energizes this team. He’s been a tremendous player, everything we’d hoped he’d be, and we’ll get him back at some point. We don’t know when that is.”
Burrow threw for 203 yards and one touchdown on 22-of-34 passing before exiting.
Second-year quarterback Ryan Finley, who started three games last season after veteran Andy Dalton was benched, took over for Cincinnati. Finley completed three of 10 passes for 30 yards with one interception in the Bengals’ 20-9 loss.
Burrow was the No. 1 pick in April’s NFL draft after a record-setting, Heisman Trophy-winning senior campaign at LSU.
“He showed that he was mentally ready to go right from the get-go,” Taylor said. “He’s given us a chance in most of all these games. He’s done what he could do in the fourth quarter there to drive us down, and sometimes we just haven’t gotten the win. Got a lot of belief in Joe and whenever he’s back, we’ll be ready for him to come back.”
