Do you own a small business, with fewer than five employees? Or do you have an idea or a dream for diving into the business world?

Applications are being accepted through Thursday for the City of Gadsden’s Community Development Block Grant Microenterprise Program. City officials say it’s the first program of its type in Gadsden and Northeast Alabama.

Using federal funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the program according to city officials will provide tailored consultations and services valued at more than $6,000 to low- and moderate-income microbusiness owners, whether it’s existing business owners looking to expand or start-ups looking to become a presence.

Those with ideas for a business startup can get help through the City of Gadsden’s Community Development Block Grant Microenterprise Program.

Businesses must be located within the city and provide goods or services to multiple clients or customers to be eligible.

Participants will learn the concepts of entrepreneurship and the tools for achieving it — administration, commercial activities, financial management, marketing, networking and planning. They also will have access to business support services and technical assistance.

Applications can be downloaded at https://bit.ly/3Pgsqph.

For more information, call 256-549-4532 or visit the Community Development office on the third floor of Gadsden’s City Hall.
