Mayor of London Sadiq Khan’s controversial Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) expansion rolls out today (August 29), despite recent backlash.
ULEZ is designed to improve London’s air quality by discouraging drivers of older and more polluting vehicles from visiting the capital.
The zone will double in size to cover all 32 London boroughs, a change that means owners of older vehicles who now live inside it or travel in it for work and leisure will have to pay a daily £12.50 charge.
Over the bank holiday weekend, Londoners made last-ditch attempts to protest the change, including hunger strikes and damaging cameras.
