Inside Soccer Star Erling Haaland’s Lavish European Real Estate Portfolio
Haaland #Haaland
Erling Haaland’s rise to fame has been swift. The footballer was born in 2000 in Leeds, England to two Norwegian star athletes (Leeds United player Alfie Haaland and former women’s heptathlon athlete Gry Marita Braut). The family moved to the couple’s hometown of Bryne, Norway when Erling was three years old. He played a variety of sports there, including golf, handball, track and field, and of course, football (soccer for those of us residing Stateside). Erling began his professional career at 15, playing for Bryne F.K. From there, he’s captured the attention of football fans around the globe, with stints playing for C. Red Bull Salzburgo, Borussia Dortmund, and now Manchester City F.C. He is largely considered one of the best players in the world. Erling’s success on the field has led him to have an impressive appetite for real estate. Reports of him house hunting in a new city often go hand in hand with rumors of an impending career move. Below, we’ve rounded up what we know of Erling Haaland’s luxury homes.
2020
Before Erling turned 21, he reportedly already owned a property in Spain—thanks to his father’s decision to invest in the town of Malaga. Not much is known about this particular pad, but Erling’s agent, Mino Raiola, did reveal that his client owned the home around the same time that the soccer star reportedly told fans, “I will play here in Spain” while he was vacationing in Marbella with his family (in December of 2021). The declaration made headlines around the world. Erling was on the brink of leaving Borussia Dortmund, and rumors swirled that he would be signing with a new team—possibly in Spain.
2022
By the spring of 2022, Erling further fueled the rumors with the purchase of a $7.12 million mansion in Marbella, Spain. The property measures 22,507 square feet and includes a spacious living room, a sauna, and an extraordinary outdoor area—complete with a large pool, an outdoor shower, and a garden with multiple seating areas. Rather uniquely, approximately 4,000 square feet of the property lies underground, which is optimal for the utmost privacy and security for the sports superstar.
After two seasons playing in Germany with Borussia Dortmund and despite rumors that he would be signing with a Spanish team, Erling transferred to Manchester City F.C., signing a five-year multi-million dollar contract. Naturally, the footballer sought a new place to call home. It was reported at the time that Erling had his eye on rival Manchester United star Paul Pogba’s stunning six-bedroom Cheshire mansion—worth an estimated $3.8 million. Highlights of the property included a heated swimming pool, a sauna, a gym, and what was known as the P.P. Arena—Pogba’s indoor football pitch that featured LED lighting and an electronic scoreboard. However, it seems that Erling ultimately chose city living over the more bucolic Cheshire location, and Pogba put the mansion up for rent in August 2023 for a reported $8,000 a week. It is unclear where in Manchester Erling currently resides, but the UK tabloid Mirror reports that his home features a cryotherapy chamber that costs him upwards of $60,000.

Most recently, Erling reportedly made a full-circle return to Norway with the purchase of a $3.28 million apartment in Oslo. According to reports, he is shadowed by security at all times, and his privacy is of the utmost concern. Suffice it to say that not much is known about the footballer’s newest property, except that it features three bedrooms and is situated in the same building as the billionaire Petter Stordalen-owned hotel Sommerro. Given Erling’s demanding schedule, the pad will no doubt be a place of retreat and reprieve in the coming months.
