‘Turnaround!’ – Leeds still in race to sign player despite first rejection, he’s ‘very open’ to move

Here’s a new turnaround to Leeds United’s pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen’s Nadiem Amiri.

Earlier on Thursday, we’ve seen reports from Germany claimed the player rejected the possibility of joining the Whites, since he was keen on moving to Olympique Marseille first.

It turns out that as Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg features an update on the story, he makes it clear that Leeds still have a chance in the race. The reason is because despite the player’s denial to the Whites, there’s been a ‘turnaround!’, as Marseille couldn’t find a deal with Bayer Leverkusen for the move.

The German side then got back to negotiating the transfer with Leeds, and the parties are now said to be close to finding an agreement.

According to Plettenberg, the clubs currently discuss a move worth €5-6m plus add-ons.

The biggest turnaround is that Amiri himself is now said to be ‘very open’ to joining Leeds, as manager Daniel Farke wants him in the squad.

That all makes the deal sound very likely, and with so many turnarounds, Leeds could be about to complete a very interesting and entertaining deal.
