Video: 16-Year-Old Sierra Kerr Surfs Teahupo’o for First Time

At just 16 years young, Sierra Kerr is already blowing minds.

Of course, it doesn’t hurt that she has aerial innovator and former Championship Tour surfer, Josh Kerr, as her father. But still, she’s pushing the limits…well beyond her years.

Her latest feat? A first-time session at well-overhead (at least for her) Teahupo’o.

Captioning the clip, Sierra wrote:

“My 1st time to Teahupo’o and I couldn’t be more stoked to be here. Excited to challenge myself and enjoy being here. It’s so beautiful and I’m thankful. Thank you daddy for always inspiring me and showing me how it’s done”

In the clip, Sierra knifes the drop on a moderately-sized Chopes bomb, grabs rail backside and assumes the pig dog position; then she pulls under the hood, more than decently deep, navigates the foamball like a pro, and gets spat out with a loogie of spray into the channel and into glory.

Not bad for a first-timer; not to mention a 16-year-old.

In the comments section, the keyboard applause erupted:

“Been way to [sic] much fun sweety! Love being out there with you!” – Josh Kerr (Sierra’s dad)

“Way to go Sierra!” – Carissa Moore

“You are amazing!!!” – Caio Ibelli

“SIERRA WOW!” – Brisa Hennessy

“Yewwwwww” – Shane Dorian

And just a few weeks before the Teahupo’o clip, Sierra dropped another one in which she cleanly stomped an alley-oop. Tubes, airs, power carves – she’s got it all.

It’s pretty evident that Sierra is one day going to be the future of female surfing…

If she isn’t already.
