Eddie Nketiah has been described as ‘electric’ as he was hailed for his role in Arsenal’s winning goal against Crystal Palace.

The striker reacted quickly to latch onto a swift free-kick from Gabriel Martinelli to pick up the ball in the penalty area.

Drawing Sam Johnstone out of his goal, the striker was brought down in the penalty area, with a spot-kick awarded.

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard stepped up and sent Johnstone the wrong way to give the Gunners a 1-0 lead.

But it was Nketiah who was credited for the Gunners’ 53rd minute strike in south London.

Speaking during talkSPORT’s coverage, Danny Murphy said: “Nicely put away.

“But it’s all because of the quick thinking of Nektiah, making the run in behind for the free-kick.

“Very clever. It’s what top players do.

“He’s been electric, Nketiah. He deserves all the credit for that penalty.”

Nketiah is looking to seize his opportunity in attack due to the injury suffering by first-choice attacker Gabriel Jesus.

After scoring in the 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest last week, the striker will no doubt be pleased to have made another huge contribution to his team’s efforts with another win on the board.

Though Mikel Arteta won’t be happy with referee David Coote after Takehiro Tomiyasu was sent off for two yellow cards.

The Japanese defender was harshly booked for time-wasting, before receiving a second booking for a minor challenge on Jordan Ayew.

But Arsenal dug in to claim all three points, with the north Londoners one of three Premier League teams to win their opening two matches.
